Artist's Statement
It's the colour that attracts me first.  The shape, form and pattern of the image follow; but it's usually the colour that first grabs my attention, no matter how small or otherwise unobtrusive the scene.  Then I need to be close to the subject.  So close, sometimes, that it's difficult to see what has been photographed.
Much of my work is around otherwise mundane objects and settings, being reduced to colour, shape and pattern to reveal their exciting and beautiful heart.
Like many artists, I am inspired by the natural world.  I'm especially interested in exploring the effects of nature upon man-made objects.  Although the overall effect is one of decay, there is true beauty to be found in this, as nature overcomes our efforts.  Weather, rust, heat; the textures and colours are transient and ephemeral, yet stunning in the moment.
Capturing this fleeting beauty in order to share it with others is part of what drives me.  It is the emotional heart which encourages my passion, and which perhaps resonates in those that purchase my work.
